Requirements for obtaining a residence permit through business investment
To obtain a residence permit in Latvia via business investment, you must invest in a Latvian company and meet the following conditions:

Investment Amount
Minimum €50,000 — if the company’s annual turnover is under €10 million and fewer than 50 employees.
Minimum €100,000 — if turnover exceeds €10 million or staff exceed 50. -
State Fee
A one-time state fee of €10,000 for all business investment applications. Payable after approval.

Step-by-step process for obtaining a residence permit in Latvia

Document Preparation and Application Submission

- Collecting all required documents (passport, investment confirmation, registration data, etc.)
- Submitting the application to the Office of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (OCMA)
- Paying the government fee for document processing.
- OCMA processes the application within 30–90 days.
Approval and issuance of residence permit
- Payment of the state fee and visit to Latvia within 90 days to obtain the residence card (ID card)
- After approval, the investor must visit Latvia to submit biometric data.
- The temporary residence permit is issued for 5 years.
Maintaining residency status
- To maintain residency status, only 1 day per year of physical presence in Latvia is required.
- Submission of an extension application before the permit expires.
- The card is issued for 5 years and requires annual registration 30–90 days before expiration.

Scan of national ID card.
Marriage certificate (if applicable).
Proof of income source:
tax declaration, employment contract, or bank statement with cover letter.
Proof of sufficient financial means:
minimum €750/month for the main applicant and €150 for each minor family member.
Proof of payment of the state fee.
Proof of completed investments.
Medical insurance policy.
Certificate of no criminal record.
Investment confirmation – extract from the Latvian Enterprise Register.
Medical certificate (issued by a Latvian health institution, confirming the main applicant is free from active tuberculosis).
Resume (CV).
Path to permanent residence and citizenship
After 5 years of temporary residence permit, the investor can apply for permanent residence if:
- The company continues its operations.
- Tax and legal obligations are fulfilled.
- Passed the basic Latvian language exam (level A2).
After 10 years, Latvian citizenship can be obtained, along with all EU citizen rights, including visa-free entry to over 180 countries.
